James Williams Tisdal

Funeral services for James 'Tis' Williams Tisdal, 70, of Cookeville will be conducted Monday October 1 at 11:00 AM in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Crestlawn. Rev. Tim Frank and Rev. Earl Dirkson will officiate.

Mr. Tisdal died Saturday September 29, 2007 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Tisdal was born June 25, 1937 in Princeton, Indiana and was the son of the late Charles Edward and Mildred Pearson Tisdal.

Mr. Tisdal was retired from the Penn Central Railroad. Following retirement, Mr. Tisdal worked in food service. He opened Tis' Barbecue in Cookeville in 1990 and his family wishes to extend their thanks to his loyal customers.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sue Carol Gilliam Tisdal (whom he marries November 15, 1959 in Noblesville, Indiana), one son and daughter-in-law; Paul and Natalie Tisdal of Cookeville, two daughters and sons-in-law; Jamie and Darrell Tucker of Gainesboro, Karen and Pat Hensley of Shreveport, Louisiana, one sister, Francis Rae Butz of Clarksville, Indiana, eleven grandchildren; Chad Perkins, Wesley Randall, Clayton Randall, Cassie (Jeff) Bradshaw, Amber (Nathan) Strong, Mandi Hensley, Maleia Tucker, Brittany Tisdal, Brooke Tisdal, Johanna Hensleym Bailey Tisdal, two great-grandchildren; Zackery Randall and Ryleigh Perkins.

Mr. Tisdal's friends will serve as Pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Cookeville Police Department, Cookeville Fire Department, Putnam County Rescue Squad, Putnam COunty Emergency Medical Service and Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Mr. Tisdal's family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 7PM and Monday from 10AM until time of service at the Cookeville Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Rim Academy by contacting the funeral home.
