Tech Drops NCAA Opener To Northwestern

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles dropped a 2-1 decision to Northwestern University Thursday night in the first round of the NCAA Region 3 Softball Championship in Austin, Texas.

The Wildcats jumped on top first by scoring single runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-0 advantage. The Golden Eagles came back to get a solo run in the fifth inning to make it 2-1, but that was as close as the 2003 Ohio Valley Conference champions could get. The Golden Eagles, now 41-15 on the year, will play Arizona State University in the losers' bracket on Friday, May 15, at 9 a.m. CST.
