COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and Golden Eaglettes clinched the top seeds in next week's Ohio Valley Conference Tennis Tournament by rolling past Tennessee State University Tuesday afternoon in Cookeville. The Tech men gave up only four games on the day as they defeated the TSU Tigers by a 7-0 decision. The Golden Eaglettes, losing only five games in the match, came away with a 7-0 win.

The victories closed out Tech's regular season on a high note for both the Golden Eagles and Golden Eaglettes. The Tech men finished with a 12-9 overall record and a 5-0 slate in conference play, while the women finished 8-6 on the season and 6-0 in the OVC.

The Golden Eagles opened the men's match with the Tigers by sweeping through the doubles competition to take a 1-0 lead. All three Tech doubles duos rolled to easy 8-0 victories.

Gernot Fischer, playing No. 1 for the Golden Eagles, had a minor test from TSU's Jamaal Brown before taking a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Luis Aguerrevere grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position, while Razvan Ilie took a straight-set decision over Carleton White, 6-0, 6-0.

The Golden Eaglettes took the doubles point in their match with the Lady Tigers and just continued to roll as they followed that with victories in all six singles matches.

Marina Tasheva and Anita Obando teamed up to get an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 doubles match, while Ana Marie Cibils and Alet Boonzaaier won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-0, as did Maja Russinova and Alicja Kutyla at the No. 3 spot.
