CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Senior Stephanie Dallmann went 7-for-8 at the plate Wednesday afternoon and the Golden Eagle pitching and defense were outstanding as Tennessee Tech ran its winning streak to five games by sweeping a doubleheader from host Charleston Southern University, 10-1 and 5-1.

The Golden Eagles (10-6) are slated to play two games Saturday at Furman to wrap up an 11-day road trip. Charleston Southern slipped to 7-20.

"It was a total team effort," said coach Tory Acheson. "The defense played well, our pitching was real good and we hit the ball in bunches in both games. We were coming off a couple wins against a very good Northern Illinois team on Tuesday and we could have come out flat Wednesday, but we didn't. It was a solid effort, and I was glad to see how we responded."

Junior Tia Brenning (4-2) allowed just one hit over five innings in the opener to earn the win. After Tech took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, CSU scored its only run in the bottom of the innning. Tech came back with two in the second to stake Brenning to a 5-1 lead and she shut out the Lady Bucs through the fifth. Sophomore Lisa Lamb pitched scoreless ball over the last two innings and Tech added a run in the sixth and four more in the seventh for the final margin. Dallmann was 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base, while LeeAnne Mongar had two doubles. Kacy Bennett and Samantha Lovelady also doubled in Tech's 13-hit attack.

In the second game, junior Lori Bayless (3-3) struck out 11 batters, walked one and allowed just two hits over six innings to pick up the win. Lamb struck out two of the three batters she faced in relief in the seventh inning.

Meanwhile, Charleston Southern couldn't slow Dallmann, who was 4-for-4 as the Golden Eagles had another 13-hit effort. Bennett, Lovelady and Amy Goad each delivered two hits, with both of Lovelady's being doubles.
